✨Gifts for Two-Spirit Youth✨ is a community-based initiative, sending gift bundles to 2S youth, during the winter as an offering of joy & resilience in the form of community love & care

Stay in touch! We'll send infrequent updates through the year

Project details:

Gifts for Two-Spirit Youth sends gift bundles to 2S youth in February, during the deep part of winter as offerings of joy and resilience in the form of community love and care.

  • By “Two-Spirit” we mean First Nations, Métis, or Inuit and LGBTQIA+
  • By “Youth” we mean ages 11-29
  • Gift bundles are made specific to each individual as best we are able.
  • All requests are accepted up until we hit our limit of 50 gifts.

If you feel that you or someone you know meets the above criteria and would benefit from receiving one of these gifts, please watch our instagram for up-to-date information!

About us:

This project began as an idea to send 5 or so gifts to 2S youth in need of a pick-me-up during the first winter of the Covid Pandemic. Due to the overwhelming support received in that first year, it has become a yearly project collecting contributions and mailing out gift bundles tailored to youth’s interests.

Gift contents come from community members, allies, businesses, and some are purchased using donations. They include traditional medicines, beadwork, zines, books, art, reusable menstrual products, body care, and so much more – all depending on what is obtained each year.

Our fundraising mostly goes to covering mailing costs, after those are covered, we use it to meet youth requests, help contributors cover shipping, and in 2021 we hired an incredible Two-Spirit Youth, Summer Taylor to design our aesthetic. No one working behind the scenes is getting paid, this is a volunteer/community project.

each year gift bundles include a limited edition hand printed card. Additional cards are sold to fundraise for future years! Current cards are shown below:

Gift recipients aren’t asked to promote us or to do anything aside from make a request to receive their package (and others can do this for them!). However, we have received some wonderful ‘thank-yous’ shared below with permission, to exemplify the impact of this project.

Hear Sheri describe how the project began, on the "How I Spent My Pandemic" podcast:
